For the last two decades, Brindisa, an adventurous food importer, has sourced some of the finest foods from Spain. These are available to professional buyers across the country and also at the Brindisa shop at Borough market. With the opening of Tapas Brindisa in 2004, Monika Linton, who founded Brindisa in 1988, realised a long awaited dream: that of working with the creative flair of our team of chefs, to create our own place to serve Brindisa ingredients.
Privileged in its location on the edge of London’s Borough market, Tapas Brindisa also has daily access to fresh ingredients from Britain’s farmers, fishermen and growers. The wines here are exclusively from Spain and embrace both old and new traditions with a slight bias to contemporary and innovative makers.
It is a busy and informal restaurant, housed in an old potato warehouse on the corner of the market. Apart from indulging in the food and wine, it is a glorious place to watch the world go by as the original roller shutter openings have created huge window spaces that stretch round the whole space – market shoppers, people heading in all directions and by evening vast fruit and vegetable lorries fill your view.
Within the restaurant is a “jamonería” where Spanish cured ham and charcuterie can be prepared and packed for you to take home.
Tapas can be as simple as a selection of speciality farmhouse cheeses or cured fish, as well as soups, salads, grills and stews based on seasonal ingredients.
